About nutmeg

Nutmeg is the seed of Myristica fragrans, a tree grown across central Kerala. When the fruit splits, the seed is removed, the red aril (mace) is separated, and the nut is dried in its shell.

Nutmeg is traded with or without shell and graded by size and soundness.
